VINNY Project harmonizes landscape preservation and toxic-free viticulture
The European Union’s push for sustainability is finding a strong advocate in VINNY Project, which is seamlessly connecting its innovative goals with the objectives of the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability and the purposes of The European Landscape Convention (ELC).
The core of VINNY’s work promotes the European Green Deal’s ambition for a toxic-free environment. By focusing on the transformation of viticulture through new bioactives, VINNY is directly implementing the Chemicals Strategy's goal to phase out the most harmful chemicals and boost innovation for safer alternatives.
This pursuit of a healthier environment also goes hand-in-hand with the objectives of the European Landscape Convention (ELC). The ELC calls for us to protect, manage, and plan all landscapes, from cities to our vineyards, by integrating landscape concerns into environmental and agricultural policies.
Wine-growing regions are recognized as productive, cultural landscapes. VINNY’s action to introduce safer alternatives is a vital step to safeguard the character of these regions. By mitigating the environmental impact of farming, the Project ensures that these essential landscapes thrive for generations to come.
The VINNY Project is an example of how green innovation can simultaneously deliver a toxic-free environment (the Chemicals Strategy) and ensure the protection and management of valuable cultural heritage (the European Landscape Convention).
