Vinny Project -
VINNY Project presented at the 49th FEBS Congress in Istanbul
The partner Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), represented by researcher Olesia Havryliuk, promoted the advances in the VINNY Project at the 49th FEBS Congress, one of Europe’s leading events in molecular life sciences and biochemistry, held from July 5 to 9, 2025, in Istanbul, Türkiye. Organised by the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS), this year’s edition focused on “Bridging Continents to Advance Life Science”.
The UPC poster featured nano-enabled biopesticide delivery systems utilising natural carriers, including lignin, zein, and layered double hydroxides (LDHs). This work from UPC highlights how these systems can improve stability, bioactivity, and controlled release of biobased compounds with antifungal properties, contributing to sustainable plant protection strategies.
There were numerous engaging discussions with researchers from Spain, Portugal, Ukraine, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and the Netherlands, who expressed strong interest in the VINNY Project. There was also the opportunity to meet researchers from the BioBIVE project, which is funded under the same Horizon Europe call as VINNY. Potential synergies and future directions in sustainable research were discussed.
