Vinny Project -
Living Labs and a Lighthouse lead the way towards sustainable vineyards in Europe
As part of its commitment to sustainable viticulture, the VINNY Project is establishing a European Vineyard Network that includes three Living Labs and one Lighthouse. These hubs will serve as regional platforms for testing innovative solutions in real-life conditions, fostering collaboration between scientists, winegrowers, citizens, and local authorities.
The Living Labs will be located in Spain, Austria, and Denmark, with each site hosting regular workshops to engage local communities and share practical knowledge. These spaces will operate as open environments where research meets practice, allowing direct input from end-users and enabling the co-creation of tools and strategies tailored to local challenges in vineyard management.
VINNY’s Lighthouse will be established in Portugal, hosted by ADVID – Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Viticultura Duriense. It will act as an exhibition site, integrating insights from the three Living Labs and showcasing best practices to inspire wider adoption of sustainable land-use methods across the viticulture sector.
By encouraging participatory research and knowledge exchange, VINNY aims to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and field application. These activities form part of the Project’s broader Social Sciences and Humanities strategy, which seeks to ensure that the solutions developed are not only effective but also socially relevant and adaptable to real-world vineyard contexts.
