Vinny Project -
VINNY at FEMS Micro 2025 in Milan
The VINNY Project will be present at FEMS Micro 2025, Europe’s premier congress and exhibition for microbial research and collaboration, taking place in Milan, Italy, from July 14th to 17th, 2025. Representing the consortium, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) will contribute with two presentations that explore the intersection of microbiology and nano-enabled solutions for agriculture and environmental safety.
In a poster presentation titled “Nano-Driven Biopesticide Encapsulation: Pioneering Sustainable Solutions for Managing Penicillium expansum and Rhizobium vitis in Agricultural and Environmental Systems,” UPC will highlight VINNY’s commitment to sustainable plant and soil protection through advanced nanobiotechnology.
Additionally, UPC will participate in an interactive session as chair and speaker on microbial forensics, an emerging field that bridges microbiology, public health, and environmental recovery. The session will explore how microbial tools, combined with nano-enabled technologies, are being used to trace outbreaks, solve ecological cases, and contribute to ecosystem restoration. It will also reinforce VINNY’s mission of promoting science-driven solutions for a more sustainable future.
