VINNY’s coordinator, University of Minho, traveled to Warsaw, represented by Mariana P. Fernandes, Cláudia A. Silva and Pedro F. Silva, to attend the Fall Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS), held from September 15 to 18, 2025.

The Fall Meeting consisted of 23 symposia arranged in 4 clusters with invited speakers, oral and poster presentations assorted by one plenary session to provide an international forum for discussing recent advances in the field of materials science.

Augmented by the exhibition of products and services in the field of materials science, the conference addressed topics that covered the fields of Materials for Energy, Sustainability and Extreme Conditions; Characterization, Simulation and Artificial Intelligence; Thin Film, Flexible and Composite Materials and their Formation Techniques; Electronic, Photonic, Nano, Low-dimensional and Quantum Materials; Cultural Heritage.

The continuous multinational success of the Fall Meeting, that has had a constant growing number of symposia and participants from all over the world, has expected to have attracted, approximately, 2,500 attendees this year.
